SBG popular literature 1

Sabine Baring-Gould’s collection of popular literature. 1.

This is the first in a series of listings which aims to reconstitute the extensive collection of popular literature that Sabine Baring-Gould amassed to support his researches into folk songs and popular culture. Before listing the items at the British Library and elsewhere this section deals with that part of the collection that has remained in Devon. Most of the chapbook material listed below is now in the Devon Record Office. A reference to the Baring-Gould Heritage Project microfiches is given where relevant. The records were produced from examination of the original items undertaken for the Project. Some dates have been amended since the original version of this listing.
